Changes to the Camry

The 2016 Toyota Camry returns one year after a thorough overhaul in 2015 that improved the quality of cabin materials and the responsiveness of the handling. This year’s model doesn’t get many changes apart from the addition of a specially badged and styled Special Edition trim level. But as many drivers around Lexington and Blythewood know, the Camry already boasts a winning formula.

Performance and Fuel Economy

The 2016 Toyota Camry features recently improved handling and ride quality, with your option of a sport-tuned suspension and a comfort-oriented suspension, depending on which trim level you choose. All models come with a six-speed automatic transmission, but there are two different engines to choose from:

  • Base Engine – The 2.5L four-cylinder engine makes 178 hp and 170 lb-ft of torque, achieving a solid 35 mpg highway and 25 mpg city* according to the EPA.
  • V6 Engine – If you want more power than that, a 3.5L V6 is available on the top two trim levels, giving you a confident 268 hp and 248 lb-ft of torque. EPA estimates with the V6 are 31 mpg highway and 21 mpg city.*

Cabin Design

There’s room to seat up to five passengers inside the Toyota Camry, and you’ll find premium materials and soft-touch surfaces from front to back. As you move up to the higher trim levels, you’ll also get things like a leather-wrapped steering wheel, heated seats, and leather upholstery. There’s plenty of space for driver and passengers alike in the 2016 Camry, and the trunk gives you plenty of room for a family trip at 15.4 cubic feet.

In addition to that, you’ll get the comfort and convenience of keyless entry, a power-adjustable front seat, cruise control, and more.
  • XLE – The XLE opts for a more compliant suspension with a focus on everyday comfort while adding luxurious full leather upholstery to the equation.
  • SE – The SE trim makes performance its focus with a firm suspension tuning for more responsive driving dynamics, as well as 17-inch alloy wheels and paddle shifters. It steps up its looks, too, with more dynamic exterior lines on the outside along with leatherette seating and a color info display inside the cabin. A hybrid version of the SE is also available.
  • Special Edition – This unique trim is based on the SE but gives you a boost in style with 18-inch wheels, premium headlights, blue cabin trim, and a one-of-a-king gauge cluster. It also gets you extra tech like a wireless smartphone charging station, a bigger touchscreen with satellite radio and HD radio, and a moonroof.
  • XSE – In addition to being offered with the V6 engine, the XLE also gets a sport-tuned suspension and 18-inch wheels. Inside, you’ll enjoy leather and faux-suede seats, heated driver and front passenger seats, and dual-zone climate control.
